In Progress
Working with Waltham Forest Council and architects Feix&Merlin to reimagine an existing space in Walthamstow: Courtenay Place by St James Street station. Our aim is to develop a green link between St James Street Station and Walthamstow High Street, including a new square, opening of existing railway arches (designed by Extended Studio), and improvements to the public space such as rain gardens, widening of pavements, better signage and improved lighting. The project is part of a wider UK Government Funded Programme (formally Levelling Up) of investment to help make Waltham Forest a more welcoming cultural destination. Image by Feix&Merlin.
Collaboration with architects Studio Grieveson on planting design to wrap a basement extension, internal courtyard and natural swimming pool. Planting on the slope down to the basement extension completed in winter 2024 with jewel-like colour and texture-rich planting viewable from the new living room and a calmer palette in the internal courtyard. Further areas to follow. Image by Studio Grieveson.
I am currently designing the planting wrapping around the beautiful Château de La Tuilerie. This two hundred-year-old castle - with its fairy tale turrets - is situated in the Lot department of southwestern France. Karen and Bo - who run it as a bed and breakfast and have dreams for it to also become a wedding venue - have renamed it The Queen’s Escape, referencing the period the Belgian Royal Family lived in exile in the chateau during the Nazi occupation. My role has been to design planting - prioritising the borders that wrap around the south-facing terrace - that is both romantic (think fairy tale weddings!), but can also thrive in the hot summer sun and limestoney soil of the region. Orangerie and wine cellar planting to follow.
